Steelmakers Community beliefs

At Steelmakers we embrace our corporate responsibility in all aspects of our business.We believe in sharing wealth with communities that surround us. We are particularly passionate about providing equal access to education for the disadvantaged youths in our community and support activities that have a positive bearing on the lives of our employees and the community.

Health, Safety & Environmental Policy

Steelmakers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Limited Management acknowledge that in carrying out its financial, legal, moral responsibilities, depends on a continuous improvement in our health, safety and environmental management programme. It is Steelmakers’ policy to provide a safe healthy and environmentally friendly workplace and to be a good neighbour, concerned with environment and the welfare of the community.

In order to continue to implement our drive towards this goal, our health, safety and environmental management strategy includes the following elements:-

a)Taking account of health, safety and environmental issues in Steelmakers Business Decision making.

b)Establishing management systems to access, control and monitor risks associated with company operations.

c)Compliance with legal statutory instruments aimed at promoting health, safety and environmental management, where there are no adequate legal provisions, applying internal standards that minimize as far as reasonably possible, any adverse impacts arising from our operations, products and services.

d)Ensuring (through induction and ongoing training) that each worker is aware of his/her responsibility regarding health, safety and the environment.

e)Adopting an attitude of openness and working constructively with organizations concerned with health, safety and environment.

f)Where production, cost and safety outcome into conflict, safety comes first.

The ultimate responsibility for achieving outstanding health, safety and environmental management performance including the required education and training of every worker, rests with the Managing Director/General Manager. This responsibility is accordingly delegated down all levels of management. Compliance with the Company policy is an important element of performance assessment of all employees of the Company and most importantly those tasked with management responsibilities.
